Storytelling & Videography Session in Collaboration with Kizuna

At KUDU Studios, we do more than just video production and line production in Cambodia. Some of the most moving narratives aren’t captured on multi-thousand dollar cameras, they are captured on the devices already in our pockets. On December 30th, 2025, we wrapped up another impactful session of the Kizuna Training Program. This time, we had the privilege of working with over 40 dedicated provincial teachers, all eager to bridge the gap between traditional education and modern digital storytelling.

The atmosphere in the room was electric from the start. The KUDU Academy team opened the session with a warm welcome, clearly defining our mission for the day. Our goal was simple, to empower these educators to turn their smartphones into powerful tools for high-quality content creation. By mastering these skills, they would be ready to return to their provinces and mentor their students for the upcoming Kizuna Short Video Competition.

We wasted no time and hopped straight into the art of storytelling. To make the concept of narrative structure stick, we brought back our signature “Photo Package” activity. Each group received a set of random photos and was challenged to construct a compelling storyline based on a topic of their choice. The creativity went off the roof! When the team representatives stepped up to present, we heard stories that ranged from the deeply moving to the hilariously clever. It was the perfect warm-up for the technical challenges to come.

Once the stories were drafted, it was time to talk technique. We transitioned into a deep dive into short videography techniques and an introduction to CapCut, our preferred mobile editing tool.

Each team was tasked with drafting an original story, grabbing their phones, and heading out around the venue to shoot their footage. The venue became a makeshift film set as teachers experimented with angles, lighting, and movement. After the “production” phase, the room went quiet with concentration as everyone returned to their seats to piece their masterpieces together in CapCut.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the final showcase. As each team showed their video, the room was filled with laughter, cheers, and genuine pride. Each video was creative in its own unique way, highlighting different techniques we had discussed.

Watching these educators see their own ideas come to life on screen was a powerful reminder of why we do what we do.

Reflecting on the day, it’s clear that this training was about more than just apps and camera settings. It was about confidence. We are confident that the knowledge shared today will impact the provinces and we can’t wait to see how these teachers use their new skill to inspire the next generation of creators!
