RED Komodo-X: Hands-On with Singaporean Film Experts

In the filming industry, one of the crucial components in capturing a perfect scenery and the story is depending on the quality and skills of the camera. In the general Cambodia filming community, we used various different types of camera that are best situated for different types of films whether it’s documentary, commercial, or short films.
On May, 31st 2025, fellow participants were able to receive hands-on demonstrations from Singapore film experts relating to the usage of the RED Komodo-xz Mount camera. The sharing session begins with a warm introduction of the Singaporean crew who presents about their works and information relating to the RED camera. Participants in the session came from various backgrounds whether an ongoing film students, filmmakers, Camera operator and cinematographers. Right of the boat, our fellow participants actively participate through asking multiple questions relating to the company as well as the camera.
Questions ranging from the usage of the camera, technical skills, as well as the company’s background. The Singaporean experts provided comprehensive answers, sharing invaluable tips on optimizing the Komodo-X for different shooting scenarios, managing data effectively, and leveraging its advanced features.
After the fruitful discussion, participants were given the exciting opportunity for hands-on camera practice with the RED Komodo-X. Under the guidance of the Singaporean experts, they explored the camera’s menu system, experimented with different settings, and got a feel for its efficiency.
This practical session was invaluable, allowing everyone to directly apply the information learned and troubleshoot any immediate questions with the experts. These questions ranged from specific technical questions related to white balance, frame rates, and compression ratios, to more artistic considerations regarding lens choices for different cinematic effects. The Singaporean experts patiently addressed every question, offering personalized advice and demonstrations.
The sharing session came to the wrap-up where the Singaporean experts shared their concluding thoughts and encouraged the Cambodian filmmaking community to continue pushing creative boundaries. The event concluded with a memorable group photo, capturing the spirit of collaboration and the shared passion for cinema that brought everyone together. This session undoubtedly served as a significant step in empowering Cambodian filmmakers with cutting-edge knowledge and practical skills, strengthening the local industry’s capabilities for future cinematic endeavors.
