A monumental library (Samdech Chuon Nath) and other facilities are now open to the public, inaugurated by Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia!!
KUDU Studios is proud to be a part of the National Institute of Education (NIE) historic project: “Video on the Reform of National Institute of Education 2021-2025: Moving Towards an Excellent Teacher Education Center”!
This project allowed us to highlight the monumental French colonial complexes. The modernization of these 115-year-old complexes stands as a unique architectural landmark in the center of Phnom Penh.

In 1914, the National Institute of Education was established as Cambodia’s first and oldest teacher training institution, originally named François Baudouin Primary School. Over time, the institute consistently changed its name and role, adapting to the needs of the national education system. In the 1960s, it became the Faculty of Pedagogy under the Royal University of Phnom Penh.
NIE envisions itself as a center of excellence in teacher education, professional development, and research. Its mission is to advance teaching and learning for the 21st century and foster the continuous professional development of Cambodian teachers, educational leaders, and researchers. The NIE firmly upholds five core values: Excellence, Quality, Integrity, Equity, and Innovation.
"For the first time in its history, the Cambodian government is reforming the National Institute of Education. This crucial initiative aims to ensure the institute develops high-quality, 21st-century teachers. Teachers, being the foundation of the education system, are seen as the key architects who will shape Cambodia's future human resources."
The institute also has the potential to become a public administration institution that not only trains teachers but also licenses teachers to address the shortage of educators in both public and private institutions.
We encourage everyone to come and explore the NIE Library and other facilities that are now open and accessible to the public.
A big thanks to the dedicated KUDU team who brought this vision to life, and our heartfelt appreciation goes to the NIE team and government institution liaison for their invaluable support.
Last but not least, we extend our deepest gratitude to the Ministry of Education and the NIE for their trust and for allowing us to contribute to this pivotal historical project within the education sector.
