We at KUDU Studios are excited to be a part of another collaboration with The Japan Foundation for the Japanese Film Festival 2024. This highly anticipated event officially opened at the Aeon Mall Phnom Penh, marking a milestone 10th anniversary of the festival in Cambodia. A vibrant celebration of Japanese cinema and cultural exchange, the event drew an impressive crowd of distinguished guests, media representatives, and film enthusiasts.

This year’s festival was inaugurated with the Cambodian premiere of the critically acclaimed Godzilla Minus One, Japan’s submission to the 96th Academy Awards and winner of the Oscar for Best Visual Effects. Directed by Takashi Yamazaki, the visually stunning and emotionally charged film reimagines the iconic kaiju’s story, capturing the hearts of global audiences and setting a high standard for the festival’s screenings.
The evening began with a lively reception party, where representatives from the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, Japanese Embassy, Director of the Japan Foundation, Phnom Penh Liaison office, Director of the Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center, and prominent figures in the local arts and media scene gathered to celebrate a decade of cinematic collaboration.
